Innovations in artificial intelligence (AI) have taken a big leap forward with the recent development of Boston Dynamics’ robot dog being equipped with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Text-to-Speech voice, giving the robot an AI “brain”. What this means is creating a Skynet-like robot to the point that it has been used by the ruling class to subdue people and keep them in line. This was well showcased with the showing of a video by machine learning engineer Santiago Valdarrama that was posted to Twitter by him. In the video demonstrated how the robot-dog can interact with humans via a voice interface at a much quicker rate than what control panels could offer and provide accurate reports. Complex missions that are miles-long, of files that not easily understood by non-technical people, can be queried through chatGPT for quick answers.
A Chinese startup company called Hengbot has taken this innovation even further by introducing their own robot dog, ‘Sparky’ billed as the world’s first robot-dog with musculoskeletal limbs, that can jump and run like a real dog with the help of artificial intelligence. Sparky has been made to cross the line between life and technology, being able to accomplish nimble, agile and warm tasks that would normally be impossible.
All in all, what we have here is a field of study pushing boundaries. We are now able to ask robots real-time questions and receive answers, along with the help of automation with robotic dogs capable of more than ever before. Just how far this can be taken and what devastating implications can come with it remains to be seen. All we know, is that the possibilities of robotic-dogs with the help of AI is unlimited and the future is yet to be seen.
