The electric hypercar Rimac Nevera was an immediate sensation when it launched in 2021. Its incredible 1,914 horsepower and silent acceleration from 0-100km/h in 1.85 seconds left its petrol-powered counterparts in the dust. But it was on the 6th of June 2021 that it proved to be the ultimate record-breaking hypercar. On that day, the Nevera smashed 23 performance records at Germany’s Automotive Testing Papenburg (ATP) facility.
The 0-400-0km/h run, a grueling endurance test of hypercar performance, was the highlight of the day. The electric Rimac achieved the feat in only 29.93 seconds, quicker than any other electric vehicle and more than a second faster than the previous record holder, the Konigsegg Regera. Furthermore, the Nevera flew from 0 to 200km/h in 4.42 seconds, 300km/h in 9.22 seconds, and 400km/h in 21.31 seconds. Amazingly, it even outperformed its official spec of 0-100km/h, completing the run in 1.81 seconds.
The success of the Nevera is due to its innovative powertrain featuring a 120kWh battery pack and four electric motors that produce 1.4MW of power. A 390mm set of Brembo CCMR carbon-ceramic brakes and a top-notch regenerative braking system work together to complete the performance. Additionally, the aerodynamic design of the car complements the powertrain, making the Nevera cut through the air like a knife.
Rimac Automobili, a Croatian car manufacturer, designed the Nevera. Mate Rimac, the CEO and founder of Rimac Automobili expressed his pride in the Nevera: “If you had a Nevera and access to a track, you could do it [break records] too.”
The Nevera is an amazing feat of innovation and is limited to only 150 copies – each estimated to cost €2m. However for those unable to buy the car, seeing the records broken can be done by watching the following video:
All in all, the Nevera has proven itself to be the ultimate record-breaking hypercar with its incredible performance, and Rimac Automobili’s innovative technology has enabled this beautiful, powerful machine.
