Rethinking Using ChatGPT for Resume Writing

Date:

Many new job seekers are turning to ChatGPT, an AI platform, to write their resumes, but HR professionals are warning against this. While AI has the potential to revolutionize certain industries, using it to create personal marketing materials like resumes can be a deal-breaker for potential employers. In fact, almost 40% of HR professionals said they would not consider candidates who used ChatGPT or other AI bots in the hiring process. This is especially relevant for the Class of 2023, who are entering the job market during a challenging macroeconomic environment, after graduating during a pandemic. Many of these college graduates have turned to AI to help streamline the job application process. However, the iCIMS Class of 2023 report warns them to proceed with caution, as using AI may not result in the desired outcome.

iCIMS is a leading provider of talent acquisition solutions that help businesses attract, engage, and hire top talent. They offer a cloud-based platform that streamlines the recruiting process and includes tools for managing job postings, recruiters, and applicants.

Laura Coccaro is the Chief People Officer of iCIMS. In the iCIMS Class of 2023 report, she explains that the incoming college graduates face unique challenges due to the macroeconomic environment, pandemic-related layoffs, and other factors. Despite these challenges, the report shows that employers are still hiring for entry-level roles at a steady rate, and more than half of HR professionals surveyed plan to increase entry-level hiring this year.
