Taiwan-based computer giant, Asus, has announced plans to launch AI servers that can be installed on-premises. The new Asus AFS Appliance has been trained in-house by its AI division and uses Nvidia’s A100 chips to provide better performance for data centers and AI. The appliance aims to make generative AI more secure and private as it disengages with the cloud, making it ideal for sensitive industries, such as healthcare and banking. The company’s goal is to produce the AFS for around $6,000 per month, though a higher-spec version is set to cost around $10,000 per month. Taiwanese telecom companies are expected to be the first users of AFS with a global rollout later this year.
