Jio is working on Bharat GPT to rival ChatGPT and OS for televisions will launch soon, says Akash Ambani
Akash Ambani, chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, announced the company’s latest ventures during a recent address at the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay’s annual Techfest. In partnership with the institute, Jio is currently developing the ‘Bharat GPT’ program, aimed at harnessing generative AI technology inspired by models like ChatGPT. This initiative aligns with Jio’s commitment to exploring the transformative potential of artificial intelligence across various industries.
In addition to the Bharat GPT program, Ambani revealed Jio’s foray into television technology. The company has been diligently working on developing its own operating system (OS) for televisions, expanding its product offerings beyond telecommunications. Ambani emphasized Jio’s comprehensive approach to launching this TV OS, highlighting the company’s dedication to diversifying its presence in media, commerce, communication, and devices.
Ambani also expressed Jio’s commitment to integrating artificial intelligence across its organization and various sectors. Jio aims to introduce innovative AI-powered products and services, solidifying its position as a technology leader in India.
Moreover, Jio is poised to launch 5G private networks, offering a 5G stack to enterprises of all sizes. Ambani referred to India as the biggest innovation center for the next decade and expressed confidence in the country reaching a USD 6 trillion economy by the end of the decade.
To emphasize the everyday integration of AI into daily life, Ambani shared an anecdote about controlling mattress temperature using an AI app. He highlighted that for Jio, AI encompasses not only artificial intelligence but also the idea of all included.
Ambani encouraged young entrepreneurs not to fear failure, positioning Jio as the world’s largest startup. He urged them to contribute to societal well-being while remaining deeply passionate about their work.
