Inflection AI, a new AI startup co-founded by technology entrepreneur Reid Hoffman and former Deepmind researcher Mustafa Suleyman, recently released its first product, a chatbot called Pi. Similar to ChatGPT, Pi is powered by generative AI technology and can interact with people in conversation-like settings. With a priority on human conversation, the AI chatbot analytics user data and provides a high level of emotional intelligence. Unlike many other chatbots, Pi is available through its own website, app, and social media platforms like Instagram.
It is worth noting that while Inflection AI is not connected to the internet, its AI database was last updated in November 2022. This puts it ahead of other AI chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard, which mainly rely on language models to summarize data and generate content.
Inflection AI was incubated by venture capital firm Greylock, led by Hoffman, who is also sitting on the board of Microsoft. Greylock invested $250 million into the startup, leading to Hoffman’s resignation from the board of OpenAI due to potential conflicts with other AI startups.
Hoffman is a technology entrepreneur perhaps best known as the co-founder of LinkedIn. He also served on the board of several organizations including Airbnb, Microsoft, and Endeavor. Hoffman is currently a venture partner at Greylock, one of the oldest venture capital firms in the United States. He often speaks about innovation and technology in public forums, and acts as an advisor to numerous startups.
Suleyman is an AI researcher, best known for his work at Deepmind. At Inflection AI, he serves as the CEO and co-founder, where he and his team are focusing on building an AI platform that is helpful and beneficial to humans. Suleyman also speaks to various audiences about the potential of artificial intelligence and its applications in various industries.
