Experts have revealed a pressing need for regulation of technology involving artificial intelligence (AI) in the wake of the current advances in the field. The head of ChatGPT, a major AI firm, has appealed for regulations in AI while being present at a Senate hearing. Writers Guild of America member Larry Postel from Dallas suggests this is a sign of the greater need to regulate developments and technologies, especially where creativity and artistry comes into play, so as to protect human experience and expression which cannot be replicated by AI.
Karen Hopkins of North Dallas had a unique take on prayer in light of the recent gun violence seen in Texas. She believes Prayer must be followed with action. It should be followed with an actual effort to implement change by helping communities struggling with mental health and becoming a comforting presence to those in the community suffering from the adversities.
Barbara D’Auria Lerner from Flower Mound expressed a disappointment with the Texas Legislature for the lack of choice that have been taken away from public school students. This includes, amongst others, the choice to opt out of gender identity lessons, the freedom of selecting a book from the library, the right to practice religious faith, and transgender students being allowed to choose bathrooms without worrying about discrimination.
Hannah Godbold from Mansfield asked what steps she as a high school student can take in order to combat the decisions made by her local conservative authorities. Deborah Livingston from McKinney agreed on the need to balance prayer with action. Phyllis Vaughn of Sherman asked what the placement of the Ten Commandments in Texas classrooms would be considered.
All these examples are a call to arms against the erosion of individual freedoms Texans have enjoyed and taken for granted for so long. It is important for everyone to realize their political and public roles in order to preserve the heart and soul of a free citizenry, especially in Texas.
Greg Abbott is the 48th Governor of Texas and is the current Attorney General of Texas.
