Qatar’s Participation in World Health Assembly and Executive Board Meetings
The State of Qatar is actively engaged in the 77th World Health Assembly taking place in Geneva, Switzerland from May 27 to June 1, along with the associated events and meetings. This year’s theme, All for Health, Health for All, will address crucial health issues in territories like East Jerusalem, occupied Palestinian territories, and the occupied Syrian Golan.
Led by HE Minister of Public Health and Chairperson of the WHO Executive Board, Qatar’s delegation is dedicated to reviewing various topics under the World Health Organization’s pillars. These pillars focus on achieving universal health coverage, enhancing health emergency preparedness, promoting better health and well-being, and optimizing WHO’s support to countries.
Under the first pillar, discussions will revolve around important matters like universal health coverage, infection prevention and control, immunization, antimicrobial resistance, and global health sector strategies. The second pillar emphasizes better preparedness for health emergencies and eradication efforts for diseases like polio and smallpox.
Furthermore, Qatar is sponsoring an event during the World Health Assembly meetings on The Global Action Plan for Healthy Lives and Well-being for All, aimed at supporting health-related sustainable development goals. Alongside participating in various meetings and events, including the ministerial session for the Eastern Mediterranean Region and the World Heart Summit, Qatar’s involvement highlights a commitment to global health initiatives.
As Qatar continues its active participation in the World Health Assembly, the focus remains on advancing health outcomes worldwide and ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of healthcare services to communities in need. This dedication underscores Qatar’s ongoing support for international health efforts and its proactive role in shaping the future of global healthcare.
