Dr Cerkez projects it is going to be more widely used in the future, similar to what is available with Google; however, the accuracy is still an issue since it receives input from all sources of the Internet, which may not all be accurate or relevant.
Furthermore, ChatGPT has caused some to be concerned about whether students are in fact learning when relying on this tool for essay composition or mathematical assignments. Dr Cerkez feels there is a lack of “digesting” by students, with the tool providing the necessary answers to questions without the student gaining a proper understanding. He has therefore decided to include in his syllabus that any assignment or task completed using ChatGPT will receive an automatic ‘F’.
