Traveling can be expensive. However, Madison Rolley, a 24-year-old Tennessee travel expert, recently went viral for showing viewers how she was able to plan a $1.5k European vacation with the help of ChatGPT, as seen in a TikTok video with nearly 240,000 views. Being an influencer with over 30,000 followers on TikTok and the host of a podcast called the Nomad: You, Madison’s “sole mission” is to “help people travel more without breaking the bank.”
Using ChatGPT, a tech that helps automate different tasks, Madison set out to plan a two-week Euro trip with her friend on a budget of around $1,000 per person. With this goal in mind, she provided info on her travel preferences and asked the bot to create the best itinerary possible. The result was a detailed, custom day-to-day plan with planes and trains involved, mapping out five cities in two weeks with three activities for each city. The cities included Stockholm, Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, and Copenhagen.
According to Madison’s TikTok video, ChatGPT also managed to include attractions and various other costs, adding up to a total of $3,147 (in Australian dollars) for two, including $1,948 for 13 nights of accommodation, $449 for 12 attractions and $749 for travel. She praised the tech, calling it her “favourite budget travel hack of all time.”
Although she recommends ChatGPT to use as a blueprint, Madison warns viewers that this tech is “limited” and “doesn’t know you,” nor your personal preferences, when creating a plan. One should add or subtract things to a social media AI-sistant’s itinerary as desired, Madison says, and use the plan as a baseline for budgeting.
ChatGPT is a tech company that helps automate different tasks, based on user input. It is one of the most comprehensive AI assistance tools available today and has been used to automate academia, online dating, and now, travel planning. Thanks to this revolutionary tech, Madison was able to plan her European vacation with ease.
