Peugeot Commits to Full Range of Electric Vehicles by 2024, Teases E-5008 SUV and E-408 Fastback

Date:

French automaker Peugeot has announced its plans to offer electric versions of its entire lineup by the end of 2024. The announcement was made at the company’s e-Lion Day, where Peugeot also unveiled the E-408 fastback and the E-5008 SUV, which will be part of its expanding electric vehicle range. Peugeot aims to have 12 electric models on offer, including passenger vehicles and LCVs (light commercial vehicles).

The star of the event was undoubtedly the electric version of the next-gen 5008 SUV, which made its first appearance in an official teaser. While the SUV is still partially hidden, we catch a glimpse of its distinctive rear end and recognizable LED lighting signature. The E-5008 will share the same platform as the E-3008, but with a longer body and a boxier tail, allowing for a three-row seven-seater layout and a larger boot. In addition to the fully electric versions, Peugeot will also offer ICE-powered alternatives with mild-hybrid powertrains.

Joining the E-5008 is the E-408 fastback, which will arrive earlier than expected. This aligns with Peugeot’s goal to complete its electric vehicle lineup by the end of 2024. The E-408 and E-5008 will join the existing range of electric models, bringing the total to 12.

During the event, Peugeot also announced an 8-year/160,000 km warranty program for the E-3008, covering all mechanical and electrical elements of the vehicle. This warranty complements the existing battery warranty already offered by the automaker.

In addition to the warranty program, Peugeot plans to integrate ChatGPT technology into its entire lineup of passenger vehicles and LCVs by the second half of 2024. This voice assistant powered by artificial intelligence will enhance the capabilities of the existing i-Cockpit infotainment system, allowing users to ask questions and make requests on various subjects.

With its ambitious plans for an all-electric lineup and the integration of innovative technology, Peugeot is taking significant steps towards a sustainable and technologically advanced future. The company’s commitment to offering a diverse range of electric vehicles demonstrates its dedication to meeting the evolving needs and preferences of consumers. As the automotive industry continues to embrace electrification, Peugeot is positioning itself as a key player in the transition to a more sustainable mobility solution.
