According to Microsoft’s latest Work Trend Index 2023 report, over 70 percent of Indian employees are worried about losing their jobs due to the implementation of tools such as ChatGPT and Google Bard. The report, titled Will AI fix work, explores concerns arising from AI’s rapid adoption. It also showcases that most Indian employees use AI to enhance productivity. The report discloses that 90 percent of employers believe that their workers will need new skills to adapt to the growth of AI. In addition, 78 percent of Indian staff acknowledge that they lack the skills required to meet their job requirements.
The research indicates that AI could aid employees in lowering their workload by delegating work to it, which was agreed upon by 83 percent of Indian workers. As a result, the report recommends that more training and professional development opportunities be made available to assist employees in acquiring advanced tech skills. The report highlights that Indian employers who utilize AI generally believe that it leads to improved productivity rather than job cuts. One major issue disrupting productivity among Indian workers is unproductive meetings, as 46 percent of employees believe they could miss half of their meetings without colleagues noticing their absence.
