Today, Opera announced a new Integrated AI side panel in their web browser called “Aria”. Powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT, this feature makes it easier for users to find information and interact with the web. Additionally, it is designed to make tasks such as generating text and answering product queries a breeze. The side panel is currently available for browser testing.
Aria contains a wealth of knowledge about Opera’s service and documentation. To enable support for Aria, users must first create an Opera account. Once they are whitelisted, they can access Aria through Opera One’s browser sidebar or the settings of the latest Firefox for Android beta.
This latest development from Opera builds on the current set of AI-powered features. For instance, both desktop browsers–Opera and Opera GX–include chatbots enabled by ChatGPT and ChatSonic. Users also have the ability to generate AI prompts by typing in words or highlighting text on a web page. Chatbots assist in summarizing articles or pages, crafting social media posts, and suggesting new ideas from prompts.
In order to prepare users for a generative AI-based future, Opera released Opera One – a redesigned version of their browser. Progression of artificial intelligence continues, as other companies are also introducing AI-based tools. Brave, a browser released by Mozilla, was one of the first to make their search engine more efficient and interactive by adding summarization features. Microsoft Edge recently unveiled a Bing AI chatbot that can be activated in a sidebar.
Opera is like many other companies in its advancement of artificial intelligence. The AI-powered side panel, Aria, is soon becoming natively blended into the browser and may even be available across more than 180 countries. As AI continues to develop and integrate new and innovative capabilities, Chrome and Firefox need to stay competitive with industry leaders such as Opera and Microsoft Edge.
