Opening of IT Academy Led by President in Bishkek

Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Education and Science, Kanybek Imanaliev, recently took part in the Central Asian IT Forum in Bishkek. During the event, he spoke of the importance of developing digital and artificial intelligence technologies. He highlighted the need to introduce these skills at all educational levels, starting right from primary school. With this in mind, the president proposed the idea of opening an IT Academy.

The proposed IT Academy would build on the success of professional lyceum No.99 and would help grow Kyrgyzstan’s IT sector. The academy would offer training and lessons on software programming and web development. As a result, they will be able to produce quality software products to develop an electronic-based business.

Not only will the Academy enhance the IT sector of Kyrgyzstan, but it is estimated to generate over $400 million USD per year. In addition, the Minister added that an annual National Olympiad in Robotics should be organized. Finally, the Forum also enabled greater cooperation between representatives from Amazon, University of Washington, from Japan, and from Korea and IT companies and universities.

Amid growing demands for IT professionals, this move will create more than 2,000 IT specialists, who will be able to make a positive contribution to Kyrgyzstan’s economy. And increase the revenue generation for the gross domestic product (GDP).

Throughout his career he has worked in various roles both private and public sector ranging from CEO of Mortgage company and Telecom company to the position of Secretary of State. His expertise and ability to innovate have allowed the country to move ahead in the IT sector. His decision to open the IT Academy has been celebrated among the public and is expected to bring more foreign investments, which in turn will benefit the economy of the country.
