OpenAI’s Sam Altman discusses AI opportunities and regulations with PM Modi

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, recently met with India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, to discuss opportunities and challenges around artificial intelligence (AI). During a visit to India, Altman noted Modi’s enthusiasm for AI and his interest in its benefits. The two men also discussed the advantages of the technology for India, as well as measures to prevent the potential downsides of AI. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and IT, recently spoke about the fact that the Indian government is still deciding on principles for the use of AI in language learning models. During his trip, Altman also met with Indian start-ups and expressed interest in supporting further AI investment in India. OpenAI has already launched a start-up fund for backing AI start-ups and recently raised $175m. Altman has also warned of the risks that arise from AI and has encouraged global leaders to devise regulations to manage them.
