Sam Altman, former CEO of startup accelerator Y Combinator, has reportedly created an AI voice clone of Salesforce CEO, Marc Benioff, using an unpublished OpenAI model. Benioff recounted the incident during a recent talk, but claimed he could no longer locate the data sample. The model was able to simulate Benioff’s voice, creating a speech in his tone, that repeated the words of John F. Kennedy. However, the technology raises data protection concerns as there is no way to see where data is being stored. AI voice cloning has also been linked to malicious activities, including an attempt to scam a woman out of $1m USD by using a fake voice message and content from Deepfake videos to make it seem as if her daughter had been kidnapped.
