OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman Confirms No ChatGPT-5 Available Yet

Date:

OpenAI, a San Francisco-based artificial intelligence research and development firm, has recently stated that it is not currently training its GPT-5 technology and will not do so for the foreseeable future. This was confirmed by OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman, who mentioned that the initial reports and letters regarding the status of GPT-5 were a little exaggerated. Altman noted that the company is working on various upgrades and updates to GPT-4, but he made sure to highlight the importance of exercising formal safety measures before releasing a large-scale AI technology like GPT-4.

He unanimously emphasized that OpenAI spent 6 months training GPT-4 before its release and will not compromise on safety measures when it comes to the release of similarly large-scale AI technology. At the same time, OpenAI has not revealed much about the technical nuances of GPT-4, like the size of its architecture, hardware, and training compute along with other details.

OpenAI is primarily backed by Sam Altman, CEO and co-founder, and the prominent business magnate Elon Musk, serving as a board member for the firm. Sam Altman is also the President of Y-Combinator and started his own venture capital firm in 2018. Elon Musk, on the other hand, is well known for his revolutionary contributions to the technology world, along with being the co-founder of Tesla and SpaceX. OpenAI is known for its unique approach to research and implementation of AI technology while keeping thorough consideration of safety protocols. It has also kept up its transparent approach by releasing detailed reports and updates related to the performance and progress of its products.
