Generative AI has shaken up the ranks of the world’s top 25 websites, as outlined by web analytics firm SimilarWeb. Alphabet and Facebook properties, including Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and what’s app, make up three-quarters of the traffic. However, following an AI boom, Microsoft’s Bing and OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT. have ascended the ranks, with the latter’s traffic increasing from 20 million monthly visits to 1.8 billion over the past year. If OpenAI’s growth continues, it could soon overtake Amazon and TikTok. The traffic results are taken from April 2023. There are just three adult sites in the top 25, and not all originate from the US.
