Australian-based collaboration software company, Atlassian, recently announced new plans to include AI-powered collaboration software into its popular products at their Team ’23 conference. In order to do so, the company has entered into a licensing agreement with OpenAI, one of the world’s leading AI companies. This announcement has promised Atlassian’s customers a slew of new features centered around a “virtual teammate” to help accomplish tasks such as creating drafts of Confluence documents, and responding to JIRA tickets. These capabilities will feature improved natural language query capability, allowing users to search the system more quickly and easily than before.
Tiffany To, Atlassian’s head of enterprise platform and data, explained that AI helps improve software capabilities, but the best results come with a combination of humans and AI working together. She also mentioned that further details on AI features, as well as their impacts on pricing, still need to be finalized.
Aside from the new AI features, Atlassian also unveiled a new analytics product built off of its 2021 acquisition of Chartio, allowing customers to take data from JIRA Software, JIRA Work Management, JIRA Product Discovery, and Confluence, and use it to make predictions and in-depth analysis. As for Confluence, the company has introduce a new content type called a “whiteboard” for managers to better visualize and manage their data. Atlassian also added a Chrome plugin that lets users easily incorporate webpages into Confluence documents, in addition to data residency and improved licensing.
Overall, with the addition of OpenAI’s machine learning technology, Atlassian’s products are set to become more powerful and AI-driven, offering customers greater insights and more value than before. As OpenAI and Atlassian continue to work together, more features and pricing details will be revealed.
