OpenAI Offers $1 Million Prize for AI Cybersecurity Programs

Date:

OpenAI, the artificial intelligence research lab co-founded by Elon Musk, is offering $1m in grants to generate ideas for using AI for cyber-security. The scheme aims to attract ideas for enhancing cyber-security using AI, creating management and security strategies, or measuring an AI model’s security. OpenAI has a preference for more practical ideas that can be licensed or distributed for public benefit. Proposals will be assessed on a rolling acceptance basis. This follows a previous grant to investigate democratic ways of making decisions concerning AI system rules. OpenAI’s cybersecurity interest follows a security scare involving ChatGPT, a programme which presents automated responses to text prompts.
