The ChatGPT Mac app mirrors the familiar interface of the web and mobile versions, with saved conversations easily accessible in the sidebar. Users can interact with the AI through text input, voice prompts, and Voice mode, although the Her Voice mode feature has been postponed for now. Additionally, users can enjoy unique Mac-specific features that enhance the overall experience of using ChatGPT.
One standout feature of the Mac app is the ability to take a screenshot of any open window directly from the app itself. By clicking on the paperclip icon and selecting Take Screenshot, users can choose an active window to share with ChatGPT. This streamlined process eliminates the need to manually take a screenshot and upload it, seamlessly integrating the bot with macOS.
Moreover, the ChatGPT launcher is a convenient addition that functions like Spotlight search for ChatGPT. By using a keyboard shortcut, users can initiate a conversation with the AI over any active window on their Mac, saving time and effort. This feature provides quick access to ChatGPT without switching between apps, making it especially valuable for regular users.
It is worth noting that the ChatGPT app is currently only compatible with M-series Macs featuring Apple silicon. Users with older Intel-based Macs will need to use the web app instead.
