OpenAI Empowers Developers to Monetize AI Models in Microsoft and Salesforce Marketplaces

OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, is looking to establish a marketplace that would allow developers to monetize their AI models built on top of its own AI technology. CEO Sam Altman disclosed the potential plans during a meeting with developers in London earlier this year. The marketplace would give makers of advanced large language models (LLMs) the opportunity to offer their products to other businesses through OpenAI’s platform. The proposed marketplace could compete with app stores run by some of OpenAI’s customers such as Microsoft and Salesforce, and help the technology reach new customers. Two of OpenAI’s customers, Aquant and Khan Academy, are reportedly interested in offering their ChatGPT-powered AI models on the marketplace.
