OpenAI Delays Launch of Custom GPT Store, Continues Improving AI Assistants

Date:

ChatGPT maker OpenAI has revealed that the launch of its custom GPT store has been delayed until early 2024. An internal memo obtained by Reuters states that the company is taking extra time to refine the GPTs based on customer feedback before introducing them to the market. The initial plan was to release the custom GPTs and store after their announcement at OpenAI’s inaugural developer conference in November. The postponement comes amidst the recent removal and subsequent reinstatement of CEO Sam Altman due to employee threats to resign. OpenAI’s GPTs are designed to act as AI assistants capable of performing real-world tasks like booking flights and can also be shared by users to earn money. The company also aims to collaborate with organizations to create public and private datasets for AI model training, producing more conversational and nuanced training data. OpenAI is actively seeking partners to help develop an open-source dataset for language model training.
