OpenAI Confirms ChatGPT Outage Across the Globe

OpenAI, an artificial intelligence research organization, has confirmed that its immensely popular chatbot ChatGPT, powered by AI, is currently down worldwide. The company has observed “elevated error rates” and is currently investigating the issue. At 12.23pm BST, OpenAI reported that the root cause has been identified and the team is looking to fix it.

As per Down Detector, reports from users started to become substantial around 12.17 BST. Currently, there are more than a thousand reports by users. Generally, it is normal for ChatGPT to reject questions at peak hours, but loading issues generally get resolved within a few minutes.

OpenAI was founded in 2015, and is currently a leader in artificial intelligence research. OpenAI works on building artificial general intelligence in order to grasp the mechanics of human intelligence. The organisation is supported by top investors such as Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, Reid Hoffman, Microsoft, Amazon and many more.

The company is led by OpenAI CTO Greg Brockman, who is widely regarded as an expert in using large-scale technology and machine learning for making progress in artificial intelligence research. Brockman is responsible for the overall technical direction of the company and plays a key role for driving innovation within the organization.
