OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has reassured software developers that the company has no plans to compete with them beyond ChatGPT, according to a blog post by a startup founder who attended a private meeting with Altman. The Artificial Intelligence research laboratory first released its large language model for developers to incorporate into their own apps last year, causing developers to fear that OpenAI may rollout competing products. To allay those concerns, Altman stated that the firm would not add any more consumer-facing products beyond ChatGPT. OpenAI’s large language models have been integrated into hundreds of apps, making it a crucial tool for software developers.
