OpenAI, a California-based artificial intelligence company has released its ChatGPT iOS app in 11 countries including Croatia, France, Albania, Germany, Ireland, Jamaica, Korea, Nicaragua, and the UK, but India, unfortunately, has still not made the list. The app, released on May 18 in the United States, is soon to be available in more countries.
The ChatGPT AI chatbot has gained immense popularity in India, evident from the launch of its paid service, ChatGpt Plus, on March this year. The AI technology is being used across different sectors to assist in coding, essay composition, and other abilities. To further boost the country’s AI ecosystem, the government has made new announcements and initiatives.
Further, Indian firm Writeson made a statement that it had created an AI chatbot service similar to ChatGPT before OpenAI had introduced it. The government is also currently developing a ChatGPT-like chatbot helpline to handle complaints in various Indian languages, starting with Hindi.
Inside the company, OpenAI is expecting more stern global policies and Sam Altman, OpenAI’s CEO, declared that the company will have to leave Europe if the AI Act introduced there is overly regulating. OpenAI also initiated the OpenAI Startup Fund which has now raised around $170 million, as per the SEC filing. Sam Altman also announced his journey to New Delhi in the end of May or early June to interact with policymakers.
OpenAI, from its initial release in 2017, has become a leader in the AI domain. Founded by Microsoft’s co-founder, Elon Musk, and Sam Altman, OpenAI has become the world’s leading AI organization. It has created a web version of the AI chatbot, ChatGPT as well as a recently released iOS app for users around the globe. The startup has a bright future with some of the most prominent figures steering it ahead, and making it a success.
