Nvidia’s CEO Claims AI Regulation Fears Are Overblown as Company Prepares for Q4 Earnings

Date:

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has emphasized the need for countries to establish their own sovereign artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. With Nvidia’s stock market value surpassing $1.73 trillion due to its dominance in high-end AI chips, Huang stated that access to AI is being democratized through significant efficiency gains in AI computing. However, he urged countries to take the initiative and swiftly build their own infrastructure to leverage AI’s potential.

Addressing concerns about the risks associated with AI, Huang asserted that such fears are exaggerated. He pointed out that various new technologies and industries like cars and aviation have successfully undergone regulation. Huang warned against the attempts of some parties to mystify and discourage action on AI, stressing the importance of countries taking responsibility in harnessing the technology.

Following the United States’ imposition of restrictions on some of Nvidia’s AI chips in October, the company announced in November that it was collaborating with customers in China and the Middle East to obtain export licenses for compliant products. Nvidia is set to report its fourth-quarter earnings on February 21.

This news highlights Huang’s call for countries to develop their own AI infrastructure, indicating a shift in the AI landscape towards greater global sovereignty. With Nvidia’s significant market share in the AI chip sector, their efforts to comply with international regulations underscore the evolving challenges faced by AI technology suppliers. As developments in AI continue to shape the future, building robust infrastructure becomes critical for countries worldwide.
