North Korean Hackers Use AI Technology for Cyberattacks
In a recent report, South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) revealed that North Korean hackers have turned to generative artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to aid their cyberattacks. The NIS warned that Pyongyang’s cyber capabilities could be utilized to cause social chaos, spread false information, manipulate political matters, and interfere with elections in major countries such as Korea and the United States.
Generative AI is a technology that can produce various types of data based on learned models, requiring minimal or no human intervention. North Korean hackers are leveraging this technology to identify targets and execute digital assaults. The NIS has advised the South Korean government to be vigilant and closely monitor activities related to North Korea’s use of this AI-driven approach.
