In an April survey of more than 1,100 business leaders by ResumeBuilder.com, it revealed that an overwhelming 91% of companies are seeking workers with ChatGPT experience, a form of artificial intelligence that can quickly converse with chatbots in an advanced way. Developed in November of 2020, ChatGPT has the potential to completely remake the professional landscape, creating new roles and titles.
Experts have named this specialized job “prompt engineer,” and it opens the door to a fairly high salary of $200,000 for those proficient in using and understanding ChatGPT. A prompt engineer has the ability to interact with advanced chatbots and to edit verbal prompts to get the specific answers needed. The most sought-after skill for this job is critical thinking and an adaptive brain, as companies will want employees who can evaluate the usefulness of the information given.
In the ResumeBuilder survey, companies indicated an interest in hiring AI-skilled workers across departments including customer service, marketing, human resources, and programming. There are even requests for such skills in the executive level, especially in finding someone who can build custom-made language models for company use.
With the rising use of chatbots and advancements in technology, it is not surprising that researchers warn that this may lead to the elimination of certain human jobs.
One startling new development in AI is the unveiling of Elon Musk’s X.AI. This organization is looking to compete with the GPT family of AI chatbots, and it is already making noise in the tech space. Google also unveiled its own AI chatbot Bard, which opened up a waitlist to users in April – a sign that this technology is being used more widely.
The implmentation of AI in the workplace has the potential to drastically streamline and increase the productivity of businesses. Skills like critical thinking, an understanding of AI, a knack for words and programming prowess could be very lucrative for those feeling adventurous in their career.
