New WHSP Ring Solves Discreet Voice Command Issue in Ambient Computing

Date:

South Korean company VTouch has developed a new wearable device that aims to solve the issue of discreet voice commands in ambient computing. The WHSP Ring is a ring equipped with a proximity sensor and microphone that activates when raised to the user’s mouth, allowing them to give voice commands in a low volume. This addresses the problem of having to speak commands louder than usual, which can be inconvenient and privacy-compromising in certain situations.

The WHSP Ring works in conjunction with VTouch’s own app, which offers various AI assistants such as an AI Art Curator or a digital Psychiatrist. Users can access these assistants from their smartphones and interact with them using the ring. Additionally, the ring allows users to control their smart homes, adjusting settings and parameters with ease and discretion.

The device has a battery life of approximately one and a half days on a single charge, and users can carry around a charging case that extends the battery life by up to nine days. Responses from the AI assistants are delivered through headphones, enabling users to communicate with their assistants privately. Notably, the ring includes an emergency alert feature that can be triggered by tapping the button five times, notifying contacts and recording ambient sound.

VTouch plans to launch the WHSP Ring as a Kickstarter campaign in the near future, although pricing details and availability have yet to be announced. The company aims to provide users with a seamless and discreet way of interacting with voice assistants and smart devices, catering to the growing popularity of ambient computing. By addressing the societal issue of having to speak commands loudly, the WHSP Ring offers a more convenient and private user experience.

Keep an eye out for the launch of the Kickstarter campaign to get your hands on this cutting-edge technology.
