New Gay Dating App For Men, Archer, Launched by Match Group

Date:

Match Group, the online dating behemoth, is launching a new gay dating app called Archer. The app aims to provide a social-first dating experience for gay, bi, and queer men. Archer claims to combine dating app features such as messaging with traditional social media features to foster deeper self expression. At launch, the app offers interest tags, with plans to add ephemeral stories and the ability to follow other users on the app. Unlike traditional gay hookup apps like Grindr, Scruff, and their ilk, Archer requires users to upload a profile picture with their face, and not just bare torsos like in other apps. The app will use AI technology to auto-blur potential nudity during chats to mask unsolicited nudity. Archer will roll out in New York later this month, with Los Angeles and DC set to follow in the next few months, and the full launch set for the rest of the US within the year.

Match Group is an online dating giant that owns OkCupid, Tinder, BLK, and Plenty of Fish, among other dating apps. The company is the dominant player in the global online dating market.

Michael Kaye is the Director of Brand Marketing and Communications at Archer, the new gay dating app introduced by Match Group.
