Plans have been approved for a new AI-focused tech hub in Doncaster as part of the City of Doncaster Council’s regeneration strategy. The £24 million project, situated in the City Gateway area near Doncaster railway station, aims to attract digital and tech companies to drive AI innovation in the region.
The hub will offer a collaborative space for businesses and entrepreneurs to co-locate with industry leaders and develop local supply chain opportunities. Additionally, it will provide access to business support services on local, regional, and national levels, strengthening ties with academic institutions to enhance industry connections.
Scheduled to begin construction in early 2025 and set for completion by the following summer, the site will feature five floors of office space with commercial units on the ground floor. To prioritize sustainability, the building has been designed to achieve net-zero emissions.
Funded through the Doncaster Town Deal fund and overseen by the Town Deal Board, the project has garnered excitement from local AI firm Automated Analytics, which has already signed on as a founder member. CEO Mark Taylor expressed his enthusiasm for positioning Doncaster as a premier destination for innovative digital and technology businesses specializing in artificial intelligence.
Mayor of Doncaster Ros Jones highlighted the city’s growing reputation as a hub for AI expertise. She emphasized the importance of ongoing city center revitalization efforts to drive economic development and support cutting-edge technology initiatives.
As the construction of the new tech hub progresses, Doncaster anticipates solidifying its status as a leading player in the digital and technology landscape, attracting global attention and fostering growth opportunities for businesses on a local and international scale.
