Naver To Launch Its ChatGPT Solution This Summer

Date:

South Korean internet giant Naver is set to introduce its HyperCLOVA X artificial intelligence platform this summer, an upgrade of its services that boasts greater Korean language skills than its US rival OpenAI’s ChatGPT. According to Naver CEO Choi Soo-yeon during the company’s first quarter earnings call, the platform is based on HyperCLOVA which is the third-largest Korean language training volume in the world and the first in Korea.

Naver aims to take the user experience to a higher level by applying HyperCLOVA X to all of their services. It is additionally planning to launch the service in the local business-to-business sector to solve certain customization and data protection issues which global firms cannot provide. This is combined with the use of productivity tools such as Line Works and Naver Works in Japan, within the same year.

Moreover, Naver is confident that it has a competitive edge on the Korean language in regards to global Big Tech AI models. Considering this, the company is also developing an AI service demo, connected with various services to handle the new generative AI trends.

In the first quarter earnings report, Naver reported an operating income increase of 9.5 percent compared to the same time last year. This was due to changing the depreciation period of infrastructure assets such as servers. Sales also increased by 23.6 percent from the corresponding period.

Naver is enhancing their services by upgrading the search screen and app, which will evaluate the user’s search intention quickly so it can lead to the desired outcome. It is also introducing new tabs to link to short-form content and one’s home feed.
