Since the invention of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, its potential impact on some kinds of jobs has triggered a heated debate. Some have expressed apprehension about its upcoming effect on jobs, while there are others who downplay its effect. NR Narayana Murthy, founder of the renowned software giant – Infosys, is with the latter group. He recently gave an interview to CNBC, where he gave his praise for ChatGPT and other similar technologies.
In the interview, Murthy stated that “ChatGPT is an excellent addition to knowledge generation, to do certain tasks, for example, writing an essay.” He also mentioned that the use of ChatGPT can depend atop on how you utilize it. Murthy said that if someone wants to stand out and gain a competitive edge, they would surely use ChatGPT as the base, but along with that, they also need to add their own smartness, modifications and tweaks. He put an emphasis on the idea that ChatGPT can be used to produce better quality works, but it cannot and should not replace humans. He is confident that the lazy people will get C in the output, the mediocre ones will aim for the B, but only the smart people will get an A, which is why he is not so much concerned about ChatGPT affecting the jobs.
