Tech giant Elon Musk has unveiled plans to create a competing artificial intelligence (AI) system to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Musk says the new initiative, called “TruthGPT” or maximum truth-seeking AI, is needed to perceived extermination of humanity in a rapidly advancing world of AI. In an exclusive interview with Fox News, Musk has expressed his enthusiasm for TruthGPT with the aim for it to understand the nature of the universe. At the same time, he debuts a new company X.AI, a venture that will grow AI in the ChatGPT era.
X.AI has been incorporated in the American states of Nevada and Texas with Musk acting as the only listed director, and Musk’s family office director Jared Birchall acting as secretary, as stated on a filing. With Microsoft-backed OpenAI, Musk plans to brand an AI company of his own. Recently, the world has seen a boom in popularity of ChatGPT and GPT-4, proving the great potential of AI, something which Musk and many others have an interest in exploring.
In the face of AI revolution, several notable entrepreneurs and AI researchers, such as Steve Wozniak and Elon Musk, crafted an open letter in March pleading for certain AI labs to take a six-month-long break from training AI systems more effective than GPT-4. With the launch of his own project, Musk, who already expressed his disagreement with Open AI’s ChatGPT, will be able to fully experience the possibilities of AI and is sure to gain valuable insight into the rapidly changing field.
