Mobvoi Launches ChatGPT Competitor with Google Support

Date:

Beijing-based tech company Mobvoi, which is backed by Google, unveiled their AI large model, Xulie Houzi, two months after their co-founder and CEO Li-Zhifei declared his commitment to create a Chinese version of OpenAI. This newly launched model includes tens of billions of parameters, which is fewer than what OpenAI’s GPT-3 has (175 billion parameters). Furthermore, Mobvoi launched four AI-driven assistant products at the Xulie Houzi press conference, such as AI-for-writing, AI-for-drawing, AI-for-dubbing, as well as those with the ability to support avatar-led videos and streaming.

Mobvoi was established in 2012 by former Google research scientist Li Zhifei with support from Sequoia Capital China and Google. The company has released several wearable devices and their proprietary smartwatch OS, plus Chinese-language speech recognition technology.

Li Zhifei is the co-founder and CEO of Beijing-based tech firm Mobvoi. He is also a former Google research scientist and is responsible for developing the Chinese version of OpenAI. Li Zhifei stated that the impressive Xulie Houzi model, with tens of billions of parameters, was a result of the dedication and hard work of the Mobvoi team. Furthermore, Li Zhifei has been essential to the company’s success and the development of it’s wearables and Chinese-language speech recognition technology.
