Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh, emphasized the revolutionary impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on clinical medicine. He highlighted the urgent need for integrating existing and newer patient care tools for optimal outcomes.
Addressing the International Patient Safety Conference 2024, Dr Jitendra Singh stressed the significance of integrating public and private healthcare sectors, along with combining various medical systems like allopathy and AYUSH. He pointed out the success of India’s healthcare sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who prioritized Digital Health.
Dr Jitendra Singh, a renowned diabetologist, called for robust Public-Private partnerships to enhance healthcare services. He cited examples like the introduction of a multidisciplinary Ph.D course in Biosciences to emphasize the importance of diverse expertise in healthcare.
The Minister highlighted the role of India’s indigenous medical systems during the COVID-19 pandemic, showcasing the effectiveness of Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Yoga, and other traditional practices. He underlined the need for synergistic integration to manage complex diseases effectively.
Dr Jitendra Singh acknowledged PM Modi’s initiatives in promoting traditional medical practices globally, such as observing International Day of Yoga and celebrating the International Year of Millets. He also mentioned significant investments in Space Startups and the exponential growth of India’s bioeconomy, attributing the success to innovative policies.
Referring to the Anusandhan National Research Foundation, Dr Jitendra Singh projected a more integrated approach to scientific research through public-private collaborations. He commended the organizers for leveraging AI and cutting-edge technologies in patient care and clinical medicine.
