Microsoft’s Copilot Gets Powerful Upgrades with GPT-4 Turbo & Deep Search

Date:

Despite recent turmoil, Microsoft is pushing ahead with plans to enhance its Copilot assistant, formerly known as the ChatGPT-powered Bing chatbot. Yusuf Medhi, Executive Vice President and Consumer Chief Marketing Officer at Microsoft, announced today that Copilot will soon be equipped with OpenAI’s latest GPT-4 Turbo model, allowing users to tackle more complex tasks. Medhi revealed that the GPT-4 Turbo model is currently being tested with select users and will be integrated into Copilot on a wider scale in the coming weeks.

In addition to the GPT-4 Turbo model, Microsoft has unveiled several other upcoming features for Copilot. The first is the release of the DALL-E 3 model, an enhanced version of OpenAI’s text-to-image model. This upgrade promises to deliver higher-quality images that more accurately represent the given prompt.

Another noteworthy addition is Deep Search, an experimental feature in partnership with Bing. It aims to provide more comprehensive answers to intricate queries by combining Bing’s web index with GPT-4 results. The Bing team has emphasized that Deep Search is designed to offer a deeper and richer exploration of the web but will not replace the existing Bing search function.

The integration of Multi-Modal with Search Grounding is set to significantly enhance Copilot’s image analysis capabilities. By leveraging Bing image search and web search, Copilot will provide more accurate answers when presented with an image query.

Furthermore, Copilot is gearing up to become a reliable Code Interpreter, enabling users to seek assistance with math, coding, data analysis, and numerous other complex queries.

Copilot has now transitioned to its new standalone website, copilot.microsoft.com. However, it is also seamlessly integrated into Windows 11 and will soon be available on Windows 10. While Copilot remains free to use, Microsoft offers a premium version called Copilot for Microsoft 365 (formerly known as Microsoft 365 Copilot) that brings AI assistance to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and other Microsoft 365 applications.
