Microsoft to Provide US Government with OpenAI’s GPT-4 AI Model

Date:

Microsoft is set to make its Azure Government cloud computing service more intelligent by integrating OpenAI’s highly advanced AI language models. The company is set to launch a new feature that will enable Azure Government clients to take advantage of two of OpenAI’s language models, namely GPT-4, the latest and most advanced AI model, and GPT-3, which is an earlier version of the technology. While the US government clients who stand to benefit from this move are yet to be named, Microsoft’s Azure Government solution has been used by the Defense Department, the Energy Department, and NASA. The recent development will give government entities access to OpenAI’s two giant language models through Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI service, enabling them to carry out a wide range of tasks, including answering research queries, generating computer codes, and summarising field reports. The move aims to provide a segregated commercial cloud computing space to host the OpenAI models, distinct from the cloud used by Azure Government customers.
