Microsoft recently announced a major overhaul to its popular video conferencing software, Microsoft Teams, as part of its plans to introduce artificial intelligence and GPT-4 functionality into Microsoft 365 at some point in the future. This newly overhauled version of Teams is specially tailored for Windows users and is currently available in a public preview, with Microsoft claiming that it’s two times faster and half the amount of memory intensive.
The new Teams for Windows app will provide users with a more intuitive interface so users can easily access notifications, messages, and channels. Additionally, Microsoft has also provided users with the ability to switch between accounts without any need to log in and out each time. This is a feature made popular by Google Workspace with Teams one-upping Google by providing notification support for multiple accounts all at once.
Having not yet provided any further insight into the much-awaited Microsoft 365 Copilot, the tech giant still announced that the public preview of Teams is the beginning of a ‘foundation’ for the planned feature with the public preview of Teams soon to be available to macOS users, as well as business organizations who have opted into the program. Microsoft made clear that teams app for Windows is expected to be generally available for everyone to use by the end of the year.
