Microsoft and OpenAI’s relationship showing cracks: Report

Microsoft’s partnership with ChatGPT maker OpenAI may not be as smooth as it seems, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. Sources familiar with the matter have claimed that Microsoft executives were taken aback by the launch of ChatGPT, OpenAI’s AI chatbot. The launch reportedly occurred around the same time Microsoft was integrating OpenAI’s models into Bing. Some Microsoft employees were concerned that ChatGPT would steal Bing’s thunder, while others argued that Bing could benefit from how the public uses ChatGPT. OpenAI’s relationship with Microsoft has allowed the former to make deals with Microsoft’s rivals, the report added. Additionally, Microsoft has complained about reduced spending on its AI products.
