Microsoft and Epic Strengthen Partnership with Integration of Azure OpenAI Service

Date:

Microsoft and Epic have extended their already long-standing strategic collaboration, by now combining Azure OpenAI Service with Epic’s Electronic Health Record software. This collaboration has the goal of increasing productivity and improving patient care, and implementing financial stability in global healthcare systems. The first result to deploy from this integration is the ability for healthcare organizations to draft automated messages for providers.

These organizations have seen success in reducing costs and increasing operational efficiency, thanks to this implementation. UW Health’s Chief Information Officer, Chero Goswami said it best, “Integrating generative AI into our daily workflows will increase productivity for many of our providers, and grant them the ability to concentrate on higher-level clinical duties.”

Additionally, by integrating OpenAI’s GPT-4 technology with Epic’s SlicerDicer reporting tool, healthcare organizations can now have a more flexible, intuitive and conversational way to analyze data. Such reports can provide the necessary information to help reduce costs and increase profitability.
