Michael Brown Joins Shield Capital as Partner

Shield Capital is pleased to announce the addition of Michael Brown as a Partner of the firm. Mike had been heavily involved with Shield since October 2022 and previously served as a Venture Partner. Before joining Shield, Mike has well established experience in the field. He had served in various leadership roles with the Department of Defense (DoD), spearheading Defense Innovation Unit (DIU). He also had a hand in expanding DIU’s presence nationally.

In addition to his current position Mike has held multiple executive roles in the past. For instance, he was the CEO of two renowned Fortune 500 companies – Symantec and Quantum Corporation. He was also a part of the board of directors for 10 public and private companies. Mike brings a great wealth of knowledge and skills to the team. He is well-versed in the technologies related to artificial intelligence, autonomy, cybersecurity, and space. He also has strong experience in the Foreign Affairs of Taiwan.

Raj Shah, Managing Partner of Shield Capital, excitedly shared his belief that Mike’s executive experience and leadership in the national security domain aligns perfectly with Shield’s team, investment strategies, and mission.

Philip Bilden, another Managing Partner of Shield Capital, felt that Mike’s experience in senior leadership roles and his contacts can open many doors for Shield portfolio companies that look to engage with government customers and scale their businesses.
