Meta CEO Optimistic About Threads App Despite Initial User Drop
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg remains optimistic about the future of the Threads app, despite experiencing a drop in users following its launch. Initially introduced as a rival platform to Twitter under the name X, Threads was later unveiled as an Instagram app. Its close integration with the popular photo-sharing app gave it a strong start.
However, many users were dissatisfied with the limited features offered by Threads initially. In response to the feedback, the app quickly added following and for you options to enhance the user experience. Despite these improvements, it failed to retain a significant number of subscribers.
During a meeting addressing these concerns, Mark Zuckerberg acknowledged that while the app’s retention rate was better than expected, it still had room for improvement. He described the drop in users as a normal occurrence and expressed his optimism for the app’s future.
To address the issue, the Threads team is planning to introduce additional features aimed at increasing user retention. Chief Product Officer Chris Cox stated that one strategy would involve ensuring that important Threads are visible to Instagram users. It is likely that Threads will be incorporating a range of new features in the near future.
Post-launch user drop-offs are common in the tech industry, as many users download apps with the intention of testing them out. Retaining these initial users can be a challenge. Given Threads’ initial struggle to retain its users, the question remains whether it will be able to make a strong comeback.

Finally, there are speculations that Elon Musk may replace the terms tweets and twitter with posts on the platform that was formerly known as Twitter and is now called X. Although some users have already reported seeing the word post instead of tweet, there has been no official confirmation of this change. Musk’s fascination with the letter X is not a secret, leading to further anticipation surrounding the platform’s identity.
