German automaker Mercedes-Benz is teaming up with Microsoft to test ChatGPT in its cars in the US. The test program, which will run for three months from June 16, will allow nearly 900,000 Mercedes drivers to download the OpenAI chatbot via the carmaker’s MBUX system, enabling them to ask for information about destinations and other queries. The move is part of Microsoft’s strategy to develop chatbot integration plug-ins for cars to enable drivers to book movie tickets and make restaurant reservations, among other tasks. The findings from the test program will help Mercedes to determine if it wants to offer AI systems in other countries and languages. The use of ChatGPT will make car systems answer more naturally.
