Mercedes-Benz has partnered with Microsoft to introduce an in-car chatbot that can answer questions, follow-ups, and complete requests. Called ChatGPT, the voice bot can suggest recipe ideas, keep kids entertained with nursery rhymes and songs, and eventually book restaurant reservations and cinema tickets. Users in the US can sign up for the beta programme by expressing their interest to their infotainment system, which will then send the software update over the internet after three months. The cloud-based software can draw on a vast array of content, including articles, social media posts, and websites, in order to respond to inquiries. Mercedes claims that user privacy is top concern and notes that it will anonymise voice data stored in the cloud.
