Meet the Robots Attending UN’s AI for Good Global Summit

Some of the world’s most famous robots are set to attend the UN’s AI for Good Global summit, which will also feature human experts such as futurist Ray Kurzweil and DeepMind COO Lila Ibrahim. Over 50 robots, mostly from Europe, will be in attendance, with Sophia attracting the most attention. The robot is famous worldwide, having been granted citizenship by Saudi Arabia in 2017. However, critics like Meta’s chief AI scientist, Yann LeCun, have called the robot complete bullshit. Ameca, built in the UK by Engineered Arts, boasts the world’s most advanced human-shaped robot, while Spot from Boston Dynamics looks almost like a cute dog but is primarily used for dangerous jobs. Other famous attendees include the humanoid android Ishiguro, the world’s first robot artist Ai-Da, and Furhat, a social robot that converses, shows emotions and maintains eye contact with humans, among others. The summit is expected to generate exciting new developments in the field of AI.
