JPMorgan has announced a new unit called Data & Analytics (D&A) to bring together its collective AI knowledge. The newly formed unit will be key to the bank’s AI use and strategy as there will be a need to determine where and how the bank can use AI within defined guidelines. Teresa Heitsenrether has been appointed as the firmwide chief data and analytics officer and will lead the unit, working closely with Lori Beer, the JPMorgan global chief information officer. With some of JPMorgan’s highest-tech leaders as her deputies, Heitsenrether’s team will determine the direction of the bank’s digital transformation and data governance. D&A’s contributions to the bank’s ongoing success will be through strategy, governance, and adoption of AI whilst making sure they are used securely and responsibly.
