MediaTek Leverages Nvidia GPU and AI for Connected Car Chipsets

MediaTek and Nvidia have joined forces to create new hardware and software for AI-driven connected cars. The collaboration, announced at the Computex trade show in Taiwan, will result in new products expected to be available in late 2025. Under the arrangement, MediaTek will upgrade its Dimensity Auto range of automotive solutions by incorporating Nvidia’s specialist Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and AI software. The new hardware and software will aid new in-cabin and infotainment functions, with the resulting products aimed at all vehicle sectors from luxury to entry-level. Currently, MediaTek’s Dimensity Auto range covers Auto Cockpit, Auto Connect and Auto Drive.

Taiwanese firm MediaTek, part of the Fortune 500, is a semiconductor company that designs System on Chip (SoC) technology for smartphones and some digital devices. It also works in the automotive appliance and home entertainment industries developing cutting-edge chipsets for various applications. MediaTek is committed to developing and promoting technology that enhances user experiences in all the sectors in which it operates.

Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang is a naturalised American businessman born in Taiwan, recognised for his contributions to AI and graphics processing technology. In 1993, he co-founded Nvidia, a company specialising in the design of GPU technology and AI software that has become a global brand. Huang has held various engineering posts at Advanced Micro Devices, LSI Logic Corporation and most recently at Sun Microsystems before setting up Nvidia.
