A Malappuram native, A.P. Mujeeb, has been arrested by the Kozhikode cyber police for his alleged involvement in a fake share trading venture scam. The cyber police received a complaint from a retired man in Kozhikode who claimed to have lost ₹48 lakh to Mujeeb and his gang of online fraudsters.
Mujeeb reportedly convinced the victim to invest in the fraudulent share trading venture by sharing videos and motivational sessions about profitable trading. The suspect was traced through bank transaction records that showed him withdrawing a commission for enrolling the victim in the scheme.
Investigations were led by Inspector Vipin Chandran of the Kozhikode Cyber Crime Police Station. Mujeeb, 41, was presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days following his arrest.
This arrest sheds light on the prevalence of online fraud and the importance of being cautious while engaging in online trading ventures. It serves as a reminder to exercise due diligence and verify the authenticity of such schemes before investing your hard-earned money.
